The completeness of the LVDB is characterized by comparing to other catalogs. v1.0.3 of the LVDB is complete to 6 Mpc when comparing to the Local Volume Galaxy catalog and Extragalactic Distance Database. Current efforts are focused on verifying this completeness limit with other catalogs (HyperLEDA, the NED LVS and Siena Galaxy Atlas) and adding missing systems and any new discoveries.
